Treat U Right (1994) BlackGirl

Rich, gospel-like harmonies capture the ear on a set filled with creamy melodies and laid-back, funky beats Trio takes the high road with positive lyrics that articulate pro-female theory as well as warm, romantic notions. BlackGirl combines the soulful harmonies of days gone by with '90s production, resulting in closely woven vocals and temporally hybrid musical arrangements.

Old School Video of the Day - 90's Girl (1994) - BlackGirl

Back in the early 90's, BlackGirl was a successful R&B band that hit the top 40 of the Billboard charts four times from their debut album "Treat U Right" produced by Christopher Stewart who produced Rihanna's Umbrella, Britney and Madonna's "Me Against the Music" and Mary J. Blige's "Just Fine". Here is their video to the single "90's Girl" that hit number 13 on the Hot 100 back in 1994. Despite a Gold-selling debut album, a TV spot for Chrysler, and award nominations from Billboard and Soul Train the group split from RCA records in 1995 and didn't release a second album.
