The Very Best of En Vogue (2001) En Vogue
Album by album, they delivered terrific singles, from the swaggering "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)" and "Free Your Mind" to the yearning "Don't Let Go (Love)" and "Hold On," plus such wonderful duets as "Whatta Man," where they team with Salt-N-Pepa to deliver a songs so sexy it hurts (but, as John Mellencamp says, it hurts so good). All these are here on this 16-track collection, along with several other singles that didn't climb as high on the charts, plus album tracks, and, well, filler, like a remix of "Hold On."

3 Doors Down Cruises To No. 1 On Album Chart
A trio of new releases top The Billboard 200 this week, with 3 Doors Down's self-titled Universal Republic effort leading the charge at No. 1. The effort moved 154,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making it the band's second chart-topping album.
3 Doors Down's last effort, "Seventeen Days," also started in the penthouse in 2005. So far, all four of the group's releases have reached the top 10 and have collectively sold 11.4 million copies.
UGK rapper Bun B's "II Trill" debuts at No. 2 with 98,000. The Rap-A-Lot/Asylum set is led by the single "That's Gangsta" featuring Sean Kingston and comes on the heels of the appropriately titled "Trill," which debuted and peaked at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 in 2005 with an opening sales frame of 118,000.
"Dancing with the Stars" champ-turned-country-singer Julianne Hough's self-titled Mercury Nashville debut enters at No. 3, moving 67,000. The single "That Song In My Head" rises 32-29 on the Hot Country Songs chart this week.
Reprise's retrospective Frank Sinatra collection "Nothing But the Best" falls 2-4 with 54,000, a 45% slip in sales. Last week's No. 1, Death Cab For Cutie's "Narrow Stairs" (Atlantic), descends to No. 5 with a 63% dip to 53,000. Leona Lewis' Syco/J set "Spirit" falls a notch 5-6 with 50,000 (-20%).
David Cook Sizzles With Record Chart Debuts
Season seven "American Idol" champion David Cook will set a record for debut entries on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Digital Songs tomorrow as 11 titles enter the former, while 14 songs jump on the download tally. The onslaught is led by a No. 3 Hot 100 start for his original recording "The Time of My Life," which shifts 236,000 downloads to easily take the No. 1 spot on Hot Digital Songs.
"Idol" runner-up David Archuleta lands three songs on both charts, led by his cover of John Lennon's "Imagine" (No. 36 Hot 100, No. 16 on Hot Digital Songs, 71,000).
Cook's takeover of the Hot 100 shatters the mark for debuts set by Miley Cyrus (as Hannah Montana) in the Nov. 11, 2006, issue, when she placed six new titles on the list. The 11 songs on the chart are the most in a week by any artist in the Nielsen Music era, which began in December 1991 when the chart converted to Nielsen BDS and Nielsen SoundScan data.
His haul also marks the most placements on the list since the Beatles charted 14 songs on the Hot 100 in the week of April 11, 1964.

Ne-Yo Says Lindsay Lohan Track Will 'Surprise'
Ne-Yo the artist is busy these days, touring with Alicia Keys and preparing for the Aug. 15 release of his third Def Jam album, "Year of the Gentleman." But Ne-Yo the songwriter is equally, with rash of high-profile tracks either just out or coming.
One surprising entry on his docket is an uptempo track called "Bossy" the he worked on with Stargate for Lindsay Lohan's next album. "I gotta admit, we were like ... Lindsay Lohan?'" Ne-Yo says with a laugh. "I mean, I've written for Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Celine Dion and ... Lindsay Lohan? But I will say this; we gave her a quality record and she did a ridiculously fabulous job. I was so shocked I had to call her and apologize for what I was thinking because she did so good. I think the world is gonna be surprised."
Just out is the Ne-Yo-penned "Spotlight," the first single from ex-"American Idol" contestant and "Dreamgirls" Academy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson's self-titled debut, due in September. Ne-Yo says "they're still putting the (album) together right now" but that he's "really, really proud" that his song was chose to be its calling card.
"They were really trying to figure out where to take her," he explains. "The main issue with Jennifer Hudson is her voice is so huge, so how do you take that and radio-ize it, make it radio-friendly. She can't do ('And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going') every song 'cause you'll eventually be tired of it. So ('Spotlight') is kind of a classy midtempo, and I hope and pray it does well 'cause Jennifer is an amazing talent."

0304 (2003) Jewel
0304 is the fourth studio album by American pop singer Jewel, released in June 2003 on Atlantic Records. The album is considered Jewel's most mainstream-accessible album to date.
Inspired by the sudden success of scoring a number-one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart with "Serve the Ego", the final single from her previous effort This Way, Jewel made a radical departure from previous musical efforts and recorded 0304, a pop- and club-friendly record, void of anything "folk-like" she had previously done.

Angelina Jolie, Clint Eastwood debut film at Cannes
-- Pregnant with twins, Angelina Jolie says the story behind her latest drama hits close to home: the loss of a child.
Jolie stars in Clint Eastwood's "Changeling," the true story of a Los Angeles woman who endured horrors at the hands of corrupt police in her crusade to find out what happened to her son after he vanished in 1928.
"To lose a child: I can't imagine anything worse, especially not knowing the fate of that child," Jolie told reporters after a press screening. "Changeling" makes its formal Cannes Film Festival premiere later Tuesday night.
Courtney Love Clarifies New Album Status
Courtney Love has taken to her MySpace blog to refute an online report that she'd scrapped work on her next studio album.
Instead, Love says the Linda Perry-produced set will be turned in to the latter's Custard label by mid-July. "No 'scrapping' is going on, simply a few retakes, especially since all those recordings were leaked to the Net," Love writes.
"Don't assume you know any songs on this album," she continues. "Some may sound somewhat familiar or even have the same titles and arrangements. A few are just precious diamonds I wouldn't touch, but there's TONS of NEW ones which you haven't a clue about."
"I think we made a beautiful, vibey, magical record," Perry told Billboard in late 2006. "Courtney Love's name should be right next to Bob Dylan when they say best lyricist of all time."
In her post, Love says she is "playing" with former Faith No More member Roddy Bottum and Stuart Fisher, but did not elaborate in what capacity.
Janet Jackson announces "Rock Witchu World Tour"
Though going out on tour means connecting with fans, it can also mean long hours, high stress, and sleepless nights. Janet Jackson says she’s looking forward to all of it.
“I love all of that, all of that pressure, I really do,” Jackson said on Monday as she gears up for a North American tour to kick off in September.
The tour, which opens in Vancouver, B.C., on Sept. 20 and includes dates in New York and Washington, is Jackson’s first in seven years. But the singer, who just turned 42 last week, said she hadn’t planned on waiting for so long.
“I was supposed to go on tour with the last album,” said Jackson, referring to the 2006 CD “20 Y.O.” But the singer said her record label wanted her to wait for her latest CD, “Discipline.”
“We were actually in full-blown tour rehearsals at that point ... learning numbers, getting everything together, set designs,” she said. “I had to kind of shut everything down and go into the studio.”
Jackson’s shows have always been heavy on choreography and glitzy sets. But she promised fans some surprises this time around.
“It will definitely be a big production but it will definitely also be something that I’ve never done before, that people have never seen from me before,” she said.
While only a few dates have been announced for the Live Nation tour, Jackson expects to take the “Rock Witchu” tour (named, by the way, for a song on her new album, not for her brother Michael’s famous hit) worldwide.
“It’s been a while so I really want to make my rounds,” she said. “I haven’t been to “Australia in a very long time; I can’t wait to go there. There are a lot of places where I really want to stop off at, and that’s the idea, that’s the goal with this tour.
Tickets go on sale June 7.

Rich, gospel-like harmonies capture the ear on a set filled with creamy melodies and laid-back, funky beats Trio takes the high road with positive lyrics that articulate pro-female theory as well as warm, romantic notions. A.D.D. (Audio Day Dream) (2008) Blake Lewis
Unlike other run-of-the-mill debuts from former "Idol" contests, "ADD" is packed with electro-funk jams, hip-hop beats and soaring ballads that explode with Lewis' personality and uniqueness. Taking cues from Justin Timberlake ("Break Anotha"), Erasure ("End of the World"), Prince ("She's Makin' Me Lose It") and the Police ("1,000 Miles"), Lewis gives fans plenty to get excited about here, even those with short attention spans.

Dreams Can Come True: Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 (2001) Gabrielle
Oftentimes, U.K. chart success does not necessarily mean stateside success, as is evident with artists such as Kylie Minogue, Cliff Richard, Simply Red, Robbie Williams, and, in this case, the warm-voiced, anti-diva British soul/pop singer/songwriter Gabrielle, the recipient of 1997's Brit Award for Best British Female Vocalist. Gabrielle scored with an amazing run of hits in Europe, but only one true hit in the U.S. with "Dreams". From start to finish, Dreams Can Come True is a completely accurate representation of Gabrielle's successful career, and truly brings to light just how much great music the U.S.A. has been missing out on.
It went on to become the fifth best selling album of 2001, achieving 4x Platinum in the UK.

Neil Diamond Dominates Billboard 200 With First No. 1 pushing Madonna out of top spot.
Neil Diamond is one of pop music's most enduring and successful singer-songwriters. As a successful pop music performer, Diamond scored a number of hits worldwide in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, but has finally scored his first #1 album on the Billboard chart.
In another busy week in the top tier of The Billboard 200, Neil Diamond's "Home Before Dark" zooms in at No. 1, becoming his first chart-topping album. The Columbia set got a big plug when Diamond appeared on "American Idol" two weeks ago, bolstering its 146,000 first-week U.S. sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The Rick Rubin-produced "Home" is Diamond's biggest debut sales week since SoundScan began tracking in 1991. He first appeared on Billboard's charts in 1966 with "The Feel of Neil Diamond"; the closest he ever got to No. 1 was with the 1973 soundtrack to "Jonathan Livingston Seagull," which reached No. 2.
With 103,000 units, Toby Keith's double-disc collection "35 Biggest Hits" (Show Dog Nashville) bows at No. 2. The country star has scored three prior No. 1 albums and two No. 2s.
Meanwhile, Madonna's "Hard Candy" (Warner Bros.) falls from the top slot to No. 3, moving 94,000 with a 66% slip. "American Idol" star Clay Aiken debuts at No. 4 with "On My Way Here" (RCA), with a slightly less total than "Hard Candy." Aiken's last studio album, 2006's "A Thousand Different Ways," started at No. 2 with the much larger sum of 211,000.
Mariah Carey's Island Def Jam album "E=MC2" continues its decline 2-5 with 87,000 (-9%), and Leona Lewis' "Spirit" (Syco/J) slips 3-6 with 76,000 (-10%).

So Amazin' (2006) Christina Milian
"So Amazin'" was supposed to be the Christina Milian album that took the actress/singer into super stardom; unfortunately for her there was more focus on her dating life with Nick Cannon, Eric West and Dre then her music itself, her record label dropped her and promotion for this album after the album and the single failed to reach the top 10, but reviews were "So Amazin'" for this album.

20th Century Masters The Millennium Collection (2008) Salt-n-Pepa
Released in 2008, this disc doesn't contain anything from Salt-N-Pepa's last album, 1997's Brand New, but it features almost every significant single from their first four. That said, two of the best tracks from Blacks' Magic, "You Showed Me" and "Do You Want Me" (a number seven rap single that seemed nearly as ubiquitous as "Push It" for a couple months during 1991), are missing -- bound to be an issue for some. 20th Century Masters: The Best Of Louis Armstrong (Millennium Collection) (1999)
Louis Armstrong casts a long shadow over all of 20th-century American popular music, thanks in large part to the explosion of talent he displayed in the early part of his career--as an improvisational innovator, bandleader, and vocal stylist. By the time he cut most of the material included on this slight (less than 30-minute) set, he had comfortably settled into his popular persona, mugging and mopping his brow with a handkerchief.
